Evaluating Internet Sites

  1. Authority — Who is the author and what are their qualifications?
  2. Accuracy — Is the information reliable and free from error? Are statistics and other facts cited in a bibliography?
  3. Objectivity — Is there a minimum of bias?
    Is one side unfairly favored over another? (Advocacy Sites)
    Are they trying to sell you something? (Commercial Sites)
    Is the goal to sway the opinion of the audience? (Personal/Editorial Sites)
  4. Currency — When was the site created or last updated?
  5. Coverage — How in-depth are the topics explored
